November 2009 Auction

Hegarty Fine Art & Antiques Auctioneers will hold their next monthly auction on 1st November 2009 at the usual time of 4pm.  Viewing will take place on the previous Friday 30th Oct. and Saturday 31st Oct. from 11am to 6pm and on Sunday, day of sale from 11am to 4pm.

Hegarty’s have been favoured with the sale of items from the estate of Giles Battcock, formerly of Sweet Briar, Compass Hill, Kinsale, Co. Cork along with items from the collection of the Right Honourable W.V. Battcock and B.G. Bishop Esq., who was a horse breeder and racing companion of the Prince of Wales.

Some furniture highlights will be a Georgian mahogany two-door bureau bookcase with Regency rosewood foldover card table, Victorian mahogany library table circa 1860, George IV mahogany library bookcase, a Georgian giltwood console table, Maples & Co. late 19th century display cabinet, a Regency rosewood and brass inlaid chiffonier, Irish Georgian mahogany drop-leaf sofa table, a William IV walnut Davenport writing desk, an early 19th century rosewood library table, a set of 12 Georgian mahogany dining room chairs, pair of Victorian mahogany library chairs, a George III Irish seven-drawer tallboy

Collectables will include a collection of six 19th century oil lamps, pair of Meissen candelabra, a collection of 19th century & Georgian writing boxes, a Regency workbox, large selection of Irish & English silver to include a solid silver four-piece teaset and solid silver six-bottle cruet set, three sets of solid silver candlesticks, Irish solid silver salver, miscellaneous, solid silver canteen of cutlery etc.

Books to include an interesting collection of fishing books including Walton’s Angler, chronicles of the Houghton fishing club in two parts, of equine interest are items related to the Prince of Wales’ horse “Pet Dog” winner of the Welsh Guards challenge cup as well as a portrait of Jorrocks by Henry Frederick Lucas Lucas.

Porcelain includes, Imari & Beleek porcelain.

20 items of jewellery feature, including a solitaire, three stone and five stone diamond ring.
