July Sale features collection from Annadale House & Castle Locke

Hegartys wish to announce the date of their next sale – 3rd July 2012. The auction will take place at 7pm, at the Auction Rooms, Parnell Business Park, The Bypass, Bandon, Co. Cork.

Hegarty Fine Art & Antiques Auctioneers are delighted  have been favoured with the disposal of items from a distinguished property near Drumshambo in Co. Leitrim – Annadale House, built circa 1760 as “Kiltubrid House” as a home for landowner William Slacke, grandson of Captain William Slacke, and his young bride Angel Anna Slacke. The house was renamed “Annadale” in her honour, and is referenced in the book “The Face of Time” by Father Liam Kelly, a Letrim historian”. It remained residence of the Slacke Family for almost 200 years.  Also included in the auction are items from Bunratty Castle & Castle Locke, home to the Studdert, Parker & Spaight family.

Highlights of the sale will include a pair of portraits in oils of Captain William Spaight and his wife, Millicent Anne Studdert. William Spaight was a Captain in the 65th Regiment of of the British Army and served at Bunker Hill during the American War of Independence; he died in 1801 at his seat at Corbally in Clare.

The discerning collector or home-owner will have the opportunity to choose from a large selection of country house collectables previously unseen in the market, including such treasures as an 18th century Irish side or serving table, Georgian Irish tallboy, Georgian Chippendale Irish fold-over card table, 18th century Irish plate bucket and an early walnut lowboy.  Items of vertu, glass, silver, paintings etc. will also feature so viewing therefore is a must!

Extensive viewing will commence on Saturday at 11am to 5pm, and continue through Sunday 2pm-6pm, Monday 11am-5pm and Tuesday 11am-7pm when auction starts. Catalogue can be also viewed online at http://www.hegartyantiques.com.
