Hegarty Fine Art & Antiques Auctioneers bring to the market an important collection of paintings discovered during a routine valuation for the estate of the Frank Whyte, late of Denfra House, Schull, Co. Cork.

The late Mr. Whyte retired to West Cork, from London, having retired from British Airways, having previously served with the Merchant Navy and was a survivor of a German U-Boat torpedo attach on Irish Oak in 1943.

The highlight of the collection/auction are two important and fresh-to-the-market paintings: an oil on canvas by DOROTHEA SHARP [British 1875-1955] THE YOUNG GOATHERD, 60cm x 74cm, signed lower left est. €10,000-20,000, depicting a goatherd with goats, and a work by FELIX ZIEM [French 1821-1911] Oil on canvas 33cm x 43cm, signed lower right est. €5,000/10,000, depicting a view of Venice.

This estate will also include a eclectic collection of antiques, collectable & fine art, all which will come under the hammer on Tuesday, 10th December at 7pm at Hegarty Auction Rooms, Bandon.
